It was cold, colder than normal. Snow had been falling for five days straight and didn’t look like it was easing. A thick blanket had covered roads, houses, backyards and trees. And at mid-day the sky was sill black with heavy clouds. Everything seemed dreary and slow. To escape the cold people had taken refuge in their houses.
